Calling in all allies and potential ally communities for a crucial conversation about how to advocate for the Trans community and combat anti-Trans conduct. Join us for an educational panel event hosted by NAAAP Pride, where we’ll explore ways to support Trans rights and discuss the damage caused by current anti-Trans legislation. We’ll also examine the connections between anti-Trans behavior and anti-Asian sentiments. Don’t miss this opportunity to listen and learn from API LGBTQ+ professionals with years of experience in the field.

Join NAAAP Pride Interim Director, Noelle Blanco in a discussion with educator, author, and advocate Schuyler Bailar, Justin Unga from the Human Rights Campaign, and Alex Del Rosario with the National Center for Transgender Equality

Schuyler Bailar (he/him)

Educator, Author, Advocate

Schuyler Bailar (he/him) is an educator, author, and activist who made history as the first transgender athlete to compete in any sport on an NCAA Division 1 men’s team. Originally recruited to swim for the Harvard women’s team, Schuyler made the difficult choice to transition while potentially giving up the prospect of being an NCAA Champion. His story has appeared everywhere from 60 Minutes to The Washington Post. Schuyler’s tireless advocacy has earned him numerous honors, including LGBTQ Nation’s Instagram Advocate for 2020. In 2021, Schuyler released his first middle-grade novel, Obie Is Man Enough. And in 2022, Schuyler created LaneChanger.com, a learning series that makes gender literacy education accessible to every team, school, and company.

Justin Unga (he/him)

VP of Strategic Initiatives-Human Rights Campaign

Justin Unga brings over 15 years of political, policy, and campaign experience to his role as HRC’s VP of Strategic Initiatives. Justin previously served as deputy executive director for the Arizona Democratic Party, where he led efforts to increase voter registration, strengthen the state party’s grassroots operation, maximize participation in party caucuses and conventions, and increase public engagement in Arizona’s unique redistricting process. At HRC he leads a team of passionate individuals that spearhead important LGBTQ+ legislation and electoral efforts for the country.
