If you have any questions,
We are:
* Friendly, respectful, supportive, and caring
* Open-minded (no preconceived notions, explanations, etc.)
* Welcoming to both experiencers and supporters
* Not “judgy”
* A social meeting (not a therapy group)
* Free to change our minds at anytime
* Here because we want to be (each person is free to come and go from the meeting)
In our meetings, we:
* Share our personal experiences
* Honor and accept each others’ experiences
* Don’t try to talk others out of their experiences or the meaning they make from them
* Make no assumptions regarding why others are here
* Prefer common, easily-understood language that reflects the experience of the person sharing
* Want each person to take care of themselves as they need, such as by leaving the group or taking a break
* When requested, give personal reflections (feedback) on others’ sharing
* Maintain a confidential space
* Aim for an attitude of radical forgiveness
The Nine Freedoms of Pacific Rim HVN
1. We are free to interpret our experiences using whatever framework we choose.
2. We are free to use whatever language and vocabulary we decide is right for ourselves.
3. We are free to choose whether and when to explore the meaning of our experiences.
4. We are free to share openly without fear of judgment or shaming.
5. We are free to challenge dominant cultural beliefs.
6. We are free to believe (or not believe) in the concept of “mental illness.”
7. We are free to come and go as we please.
8. We are free to talk about anything.
9. We are free to change our minds at any time.
All frameworks are welcome.
These online groups fully adhere to the Pacific Rim HVN Charter. These groups are non-judgmental, do not assume illness, and are not considered treatment or therapy. Pacific Rim HVN groups are social gatherings for people with lived experience to come together and share those experiences in an atmosphere of open-mindedness and mutual respect. Sharing your story, as well as receiving feedback from others, is always optional.
Our groups are hosted on Zoom and are available via computer, tablet, smartphone or landline.
Groups are designated for specific regions but are also OPEN to people from other geographical areas.
