Ophelia’s Place is excited to share that our activities and workshops for girls and girl-identified youth ages 10-18 are now accessible online! While we will return to our regularly scheduled programming when stay-home requirements are lifted, we are currently offering several activities through our online avenues. Check these out!

  1. Ongoing Zoom Drop-In Groups, Mondays-Fridays
  • Brunch Club: 11 am- Noon; Afternoon Snack Break: 3-4 pm
  • FREE – Registration Required for first meeting
  • That’s right! After-school drop-in is going digital! Join us for Drop-In Groups every weekday to socialize and check in with girls you’ve missed from in-person drop-in, and welcome girls new to Ophelia’s Place! We’ll talk about how things are going at home, chat about any topics or issues on your mind, and bring some ideas direct to you. (Bring your mid-morning/afternoon snack with you!)
  • Drop-in requires the ability to Zoom call with audio/visual support.
  • Facilitated by Ophelia’s Place staff.

2. Poetry Writing Workshop, Tuesday June 23rd

  • Tuesday, June 23 from 4 – 5:30pm PST
  • FREE – Donations accepted
  • Orientation and registration required.
  • Practice your poetry writing skills at our online poetry writing workshop! We will spend some time working on prompts and writing exercises, followed by time to share some of our own work. All you need is a pencil, paper, and a little creativity!

  • FREE – Donations accepted
  • Orientation and registration required.
  • Our adventurers have been called to the swamp town of Stilben to assist a local shopkeeper, Zed, in his alchemical research. He has called on you to investigate the wilderness of the swamp and retrieve valuable resources from it. However, the depths of the Stilben swamp hold more than the alchemical materials that Zed requested. The swamp holds secrets and mysteries that have long been undiscovered, that is, until now!
  • Facilitated by OP staff.
  • Zoom required.

3. Feminist Anime Camp, Monday-Thursday

  • Monday, July 6 – Thursday, July 9 from 12:30-2 pm
  • FREE – Donations accepted

Anime is awesome! …most of the time. Do you ever feel like it can be tricky figuring out which series really works for you? Are you into magical girl power and strong female characters? If yes, this workshop might be for you! We will be watching a different episode every week and breaking it down to learn exactly what makes it so great, and why it’s important to have a series with powerful and well written female characters!
  • Facilitated by Claire Graman of Girls Voices Matter.

About Ophelia’s Place

Ophelia’s Place is a prevention-based nonprofit organization dedicated to helping girls ages 10-18 make healthy life choices through empowerment, education and support.

At Ophelia’s Place we believe in girls’ strengths and encourage them to discover and nurture their gifts as they become young women. The goal of our work is to empower young women to make healthy, informed decisions about their many important life choices. By the simplest definition, we are a “community for girls.”  Our vision is that all girls are safe, valued and empowered.

Equity & Inclusion

Ophelia’s Place believes all girls, no matter their backgrounds, should feel valued. Our Equity & Inclusion Committee meets regularly to review Ophelia’s Place policy to ensure we maintain access to our services for all girls.

Vision
We envision a future in which girls of all backgrounds feel at home in Ophelia’s Place, and see themselves reflected throughout our organization. We are committed to ensuring all girls in our community feel safe, valued, and empowered, including those who are marginalized by experiences of oppression.

Mission
The mission of the Equity & Inclusion Committee is to embed equity and inclusion into all levels of the organizational framework of Ophelia’s Place. We work to center equity and inclusion in the culture of Ophelia’s Place. This lens is vital in eliminating health disparities across identity groups in the communities we serve. We pledge to increase our outreach and collaboration with diverse communities in order to improve access and utilization of our services by marginalized youth. Through strategic planning and program development, we can enhance the quality and relevance of our services for diverse communities of youth.
