From the Facilitator

“What I Like About about PS4PSS is that it is exactly a parallel process of what I have done when standing alongside peers who I have worked with during community partnerships. This is the process of holding space to encourage, empower, and empathize.

I know what it means to do this work. I know that my own recovery has been both positively and negatively impacted by this work. Now I know that while there can be a “cost of caring,” as Charles Figley would say, there are also tools that mitigate exposure to trauma. The most important action that I can take is to create a space for my fellow peer workforce, a space to be heard, a space to be held, and a space to not be judged. PS4PSS is a space where healing continues to happen – just like what our peer workforce does every day for their peers.

I am excited because this is where I think the talk and the walk truly align. We all have great strength to be doing this work – to have survived lives that led us to this movement. We have learned new ways to cope and to create. I am excited PS4PSS equally values our strength and our vulnerability.”
