SACRED CIRCLE DANCE COMMUNITY – SUNDAY MORNINGS

We are in the midst of a much needed movement for justice and equality. We must all speak out, join the movement, vote, give & sacrifice to bring lasting change. This dance is a call to listen to voices of color that speak of their oppression – and to act in solidarity to bring true equality. It can seem not enough to dance, but when we move with intention and consciousness, our collective awakening shifts our world and our actions beyond the dance.

DJ Blender spins tunes this Sunday, inspired by artists of color delivering their message of awakening & change.

Ecstatic Dance Online: Life, Death, Rebirth

Spring is upon us and so much new life abounds. We are separated by a global virus and death also abounds. Let’s dance, that the end can also come to parts of our lives and society that no longer serve us. May we be reborn to new ways of work, of play, of gathering, and taking care of the most vulnerable among us.

There is much that will be reborn, so let us dance, together, to bring that rebirth.

DJ Blender will re-birth the sweet tunes to take us on the journey.

“No previous experience required, just a desire to dance”

Sacred Circle Dance is an Ecstatic Dance Community that has been meeting to dance together in Portland, Oregon every Sunday — for over a decade.

We are a warm and welcoming group of dancers who love to create something really special together. Every Sunday morning, a group of 200+ people gather and create an beautiful interactive space where music and movement happen, and while each person comes into the space with their own story, their own needs, their own reasons to be there — there is one thing we all share — and that is the love of the dance!

What makes ecstatic dance so amazing? In our opinion it is the talent and voice of the DJ in making a coherent story that allows the dancers to be transported out of their heads and into their bodies – for 2 hours. We have a half hour of warm-up music, followed by a circle where we gather to invite the dancers into an intention, then an hour and 15 minutes of dance music, after which there is a closing circle to share and integrate our experience. You can expect the music to start slowly, build in intensity and then move you back to a point of stillness at the end. Our music is great but the community is just as wonderful and filled with so many creative folks offering unique and interesting things. We hope you join us at our Sunday morning dance ~or~ our Thursday night Dance Temple, and discover why ecstatic dance is something everyone can do.

We encourage people of all ages and abilities to sink into their body in the safe, beautiful and sacred community-created space at the Tiffany Ballroom on Sunday mornings, and at our evening dance on Thursday evenings at SomaSpace in NE
