About Alzheimer’s Association
The Alzheimer’s Association was founded in 1980 by Jerome H. Stone and a group of family caregivers who saw the need for an organization to unite caregivers, provide support, and advance research into the disease. It is headquartered in Chicago with chapters in communities nationwide.
The Association’s mission is to lead the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support.
As the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research, the Association serves people living with dementia, caregivers, and families across the country through its 24/7 Helpline, local chapters, education programs, and support groups.
