Dual Diagnosis Anonymous
DDA Veterans Page
“You protected us, now we support you!”
https://ddainc.org/dda-veterans-page
DDA was founded by a highly decorated veteran, Corbett Monica. After serving in the Vietnam War, like other veterans, returning to home only find anguish, trauma, and remorse. After suffering from severe PTSD, OCD, survivors guilt, and addictions, Corbett found a way to transcend from destructive means with the inception of Dual Diagnosis Anonymous (DDA) providing hope and recovery through our peer support which is now his legacy.
Culturally responsive DDA’s Veterans meetings are intended to provide a safe venue to be open about depression, post-traumatic stress, alcohol and drug use, abuse, and addiction as well as serve as a resource for navigation of the telehealth system, It will encourage healthy solutions for adapting to the changing times. Specifically. the project will Improve access for Veterans and military service members to dual diagnosis services through the creation of on-line recovery support groups and on-line DDA meetings.
This project will serve Veterans throughout the state and is beginning outreach through Veterans publications, local newspapers, the VA, Veterans websites, list services, and anything else that will help identify Oregonians who can use the services.

Military Children Resources
Military kids face unique psychological challenges related to military life. Compared to their non-military peers, military kids are many times more likely to move multiple times during their school careers and have a parent absent for long periods of time in potentially dangerous locations – factors that can greatly stress military kids’ mental health.
The Defense Health Agency maintains two online resources to support military children, use the links provided below:

Choosing Care Over Criminalization: Re-imagining Response to Emotional Distress
Date/Time: Monday, June 8, 2026 at 1:00 PM PST; Monday, June 15, 2026 at 1:00 PM PST
This two-part virtual panel series explores how communities are reimagining responses to emotional distress, mental health crisis, and trauma by moving away from criminalization toward care-based, community-centered alternatives. Panelists including organizers, researchers, and frontline responders will examine both the promise and the limitations of alternative response movements and the realities of sustaining this work over time.
Part 1: Choosing Care Over Criminalization
Across the country, communities are asking urgent questions about how we respond to emotional distress, mental health crisis, substance use, homelessness, trauma, poverty, and conflict. For too long, many of these moments have been treated primarily as matters of public disorder or criminality, often resulting in police contact when what people need most is care, connection, de-escalation, and community-based support. Hosted by Wild Ivy Social Justice Network, Wildflower Alliance’s power building and community organizing arm, this panel will explore why efforts to transition crisis response away from police have emerged, what communities have learned so far, and what a more humane and effective future could look like. Panelists Tansy McNulty, MBA, Anne Larsen, BA, MPA, and Tanisha Arena will discuss emerging best practices in alternative response, the relationship between crisis care and public trust, and the importance of refusing to treat emotional distress as a crime.
Time: Monday, June 8, 2026 at 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM PST
Date(s): Monday, June 8, 2026

Part 2: Choosing Care Over Criminalization
In the years following the 2020 uprisings, communities witnessed an abundance of mutual aid, transformative justice initiatives, and alternative response models. Since then, shifting political conditions, reduced funding, and growing scrutiny have reshaped the possibilities and challenges facing these organizations. Wild Ivy Social Justice Network will facilitate an honest conversation on the evolving landscape of alternative community care. This conversation will critically examine the current state of nonprofit-based community response organization, the changing political landscape surrounding alternative care and safety initiatives, and the realities of sustaining this work over time. Panelists Sarah Broas, Spencer Piston, Stephanie Guirand, and Valerie Werder bring perspectives from advocacy, research, and frontline crisis response.

The organization rebranded in 2020 to better reflect its community building mission and international training and advocacy work.
Wildflower Alliance focuses on harm reduction and human rights, believing in the power of peer-to-peer support where people share experiences and access resources in safe, welcoming spaces.
The organization serves people who experience life-interrupting emotional distress, psychiatric diagnosis, trauma, extreme states, homelessness, and substance use challenges.
Programs include peer respite houses, phone and online support, support groups, advocacy through Wild Ivy Social Justice Network, and training for providers and communities.

DDA was founded by a highly decorated veteran, Corbett Monica. After serving in the Vietnam War, like other veterans, returning to home only find anguish, trauma, and remorse.
